Does It Work?: FlipBelt Review

The FlipBelt haunted my Pinterest feed.  Ads showing in-shape men and women running, lifting, and generally posing promised the newest necessary athletic accessory had arrived.  I was skeptical.  It seemed many of the reviews were by people who received the product for free from FlipBelt in exchange for a review.  I don't know much about the review game, but I wasn't 100% sold.

Still, I was struggling to store everything I needed at the gym.  At the same time, I found myself wishing for the old days when Fanny Packs were acceptable.  It is so frustrating having to always worry about where my purse is and fearing someone can get to it.  That's when I saw a video of a woman in her sixties reviewing the belt.  She was wearing everyday clothes and slipped it on above her waist.  You couldn't see the belt beneath her shirt and she went about her business without worrying the way I do daily.

I needed this belt.  So I selected a gray one off of Amazon, they have tons of colors and sizes but I thought gray was a good choice and would go with whatever I was wearing.  It arrived within a couple of days and I bragged about it to my Student Workers who well knew my campaign to bring the Fanny Pack back.

Trying it out at the gym the next morning after I received it, I shoved my phone, my iPod, and my employee access card in between the slots.  The key to using the FlipBelt is to literally flip the belt once you've stored your items inside the holes.  This prevents your items from slipping out as you essentially use your body to lock them into place.  I like the ability to reach down and feel the belt to identify specific items; it makes me feel slightly less crazy when I can find my phone in less than 30 seconds, instead of rummaging through  my bag, having a minor heart attack and then remembering it's in my back pocket of my jeans.

The first time I used the FlipBelt for other than athletic needs was at the Kacey Musgraves concert in July 2015.  I put my keys, a tube of lip balm, and stuffed my ID, cash, my cell phone, and a credit card in a tiny wallet into the FlipBelt and slipped it around my waist.  It.  Was.  Perfect.  I danced and jumped up and down and sang my heart out and I never hard to worry about my bag flying open, my keys slipping out of my pocket, or any other concern.
If you're looking at the FlipBelt at all, I'd recommend you get it.  It simplifies your workout and your every day, if you're a Fanny Pack fanatic like I am.  They seem to be selling it everywhere (Kohl's, Bed Bath & Beyond) and it sells at $28.99.  The FlipBelt is easily washable and it takes up so little space that I take it everywhere I travel.

While you can't store your entire life in a FlipBelt, it gets the job done.  I don't have to worry about picking my cell phone back up off the floor at the gym as I wander from machine to mat and back again.  The peace of mind the FlipBelt brings me is worth the occasional weird looks I get while fumbling through it.

If you have any questions, send them my way!
